Radio 4’s Banter returned to the half six comedy slot for a new six week series on 3rd April. Devised by PCD Director Tim Barber, the show is now in its third series.

 

The format is based upon top 3’s with three highly opinionated regular panelists Richard Herring, Russell Howard and Will Smith, and their host Andrew Collins fighting it out. Points are awarded for entertaining arguments and audience pleasing choices, with categories covering anything from science to cinema, and from playwrights to Playstation.

 

Tim says “the idea (originally for a board game) came about after various lad's trips away, where to forget the pain of climbing a mountain or a flight delay on the way back from a stag do, very heated in-depth debate occurred over such important issues as the best Clint Eastwood film of all time and the best England goalkeeper”

 

Guests over the years have included Lee Mack, Jenny Éclair, Dave Gorman, Barry Cryer and

Arthur Smith.
