The Kaiser Chiefs – Yours Truly Angry Mob

I remember arguing with a friend who said that “the Kaiser Chiefs wouldn’t have another good album in them” after their debut LP Employment.

I’m glad to be proved right!

They haven’t moved on greatly – but the winning formulae of a good ear for a melody and a catchy “sing-a-long” chorus is still a winner.

Staring out of my office window at the old High Royds building (also the name of track 4 on the new album) and listening to the song’s "whoops" – reminds me of early Blur.

A piano based track Boxing Champ – sung by the drummer I believe, is another stand out track and very different from anything else on the album. And chart hit Ruby contains one of those annoying choruses that gets into your head and you can’t get out!
