1990s – Cookies

What can I say – great album.

I stumbled across this after hearing a track on one of the Cd’s given away free with a monthly music magazine. A couple of down loads later to check on quality and the album was soon sitting proudly in my CD collection.

There are a lot of nods towards late 70’s punk and new wave as the band play classic party rock. The band deserve the sort of success that other modern guitar pop bands like The View, The Cribs, The Twang etc…have achieved – I’m sure that it is only a matter of time.

Primalsesque Cult Status is a great stomper about past it hipsters (watch out for a great final line!), Pollokshields a winning guitars/chorus anthem reminiscent of the Kaiser Chiefs and the sleezy Arcade Precinct are stand out tracks.

Don’t know too much about them except they are Scottish, there’s three of them and the lead singer used to be in a band with some bloke out of Franz Ferdinand.

What I do know - is that it is worth a punt at £7.95 from Amazon!
